Saludos!

January was an active month of dance! We started off with our new monthly Sevillana night & ended the month with a bang at Houston Press' Artopia. An AMAZING night! Thanks so much to Houston Press for inviting Cuadro La Tempestad to be part of the performing arts line-up & thanks so much to everyone for forwarding all the photos of the event. We'll be posting them up soon!

February, although short, has much to offer too. Please enjoy reading through what we have upcoming, & let us know if you have any questions.

For constant updates, please join our Facebook pages - DEL ESPADIN FLAMENCO & SPANISH DANCE ACADEMY or SORAYA & LA ZAMBRA - links located on the home pages of our sites listed below or over on the left-hand side of our newsletter.

Special thanks to all our students & their families, & to all the supporters of Del Espadin Flamenco & Soraya's School of Belly Dance. Without you we would not have the opportunity to continue preserving Flamenco Puro & the art of Belly Dance here in Houston.

We invite you to experience first-hand what it is that sets Del Espadín Flamenco & Spanish Dance Academy apart from all others!

**FIN DE FIESTA
The fin de fiesta is a special moment at the end of the performance where singers, guitarists, and dancers come together and let it all hang out. Anything seems to go, but there is still structure. The lack of knowledge of what to do in a juerga is often what keeps people from taking part in the fun. Margolis will explain the different aspects of a juerga, how to sing it, dance it, and play it. He will explain the loose structure of the juerga: When can I get up to dance? What do I do first once I'm dancing? When do I do the llamada or the pataita? What kind of palmas should I play? What is appropriate to dance and what is not? Should I do footwork? (from www.cafebybloshouston.com)
